Time is the biggest price factor. A sunset elopement needs one to two hours. A full wedding day, getting ready, first look, ceremony, family formals, golden-hour portraits, reception, needs eight or more. In Key West, I always recommend building your timeline around sunset first and everything else second; it’s the single best light of the day and it’s free.
A second photographer roughly doubles your angle coverage: one of us stays with the couple while the other captures guests, details, and candids. For weddings over 50 guests or with simultaneous events, two photographers are worth every dollar. For elopements, one is plenty.

If you book a mainland Florida photographer, expect to add travel, lodging, and per-diem fees, often $500–$1,500 on top of the package. Booking a photographer who lives and works in Key West eliminates that entirely, and you get someone who knows exactly where the light falls at Fort Zachary Taylor at 6:40 p.m. in March.
Elopements are priced differently, and this trips up a lot of couples who only see “wedding packages” starting at several thousand dollars. If it’s just the two of you, you don’t need ten hours of coverage. You need the right two hours.

You can find someone in Key West to shoot your wedding for $800. Here’s what that usually means: limited editing, watermarked or low-resolution files, no backup equipment, no backup photographer if they’re sick, and no insurance, many Key West venues require your photographer to carry liability insurance, so ask before you book anyone.
