Why the sunset is important to your Key West wedding?
June 27, 2017
The Key West Sunset Celebration, which has been reoccurring since the late 1960’s, is celebrated by both visitors and locals who make up this three mile island. This celebration takes place up on Mallory Square, located on the waterfront in Key West’s historic Old Town. Through performances by magicians, jugglers, clowns, psychics, musicians, and artists as well as many food vendors, this party is held two hours before the sun goes down in honor of the beautiful ball of sun descending over the horizon. If only you could capture this special moment on your wedding day? Can’t get any more romantic then that, am I right?
What many brides don’t know is that it is not necessary to schedule a “Mallory Square” visit on your wedding timeline. As a bride you must pick a location based on you and your dream day you have been envisioning in your mind since the beginning. Most if not all the locations on this island are capable of capturing that breathtaking moment. And lets be honest, when trying to shoot directly into the sunset, it is hard to truly get the correct lighting needed to capture the most perfect photos possible.
Throughout the twelve months on this island, the sun sets at different times based on what month of the year it is. The earliest the sun can set could be as early as 5:37PM during the winter months and the latest could be 8:31PM during the summer months. Brides must remember to keep this in mind when picking a time for their special day. Senses at Play will make sure to make a timeline for your wedding photography around the scheduled time for sunset on that specific day. “What I always like to remind my brides is that, the sun will set with or without you, which is why I do my best to ALWAYS follow the timeline,” states Bernadette McCall. It is extremely important to make sure your team is working together so that your day is exciting, stress-free, and fun, so that you truly get the most out of your day.
